What Is Tiger Mama?
Tiger Mama is a designated third space for families, with play areas that have our youngest community members and their caretakers in mind. Neutral, relaxing, and fostering creativity for adults and children alike, our mission is to foster a sense of connection where community members can gather, share resources, and grow together.
Q&A
Why the name Tiger Mama?
Three out of four of our founding members are Asian American, and the idea of naming this venture Tiger Mama came from a desire to reclaim the stereotype.
Can I work while my child plays?
Yes. We have tables and seating available where caregivers can sit, relax, answer emails, or get a little work done while their child plays nearby. Children must remain supervised by their caregiver at all times. As we continue to build out the space, we hope to introduce additional childcare and co-working options in the future.
Is this a coworking space?
Tiger Mama is primarily a children’s play space. We do have tables and seating available for caregivers, but our dedicated coworking area is still in development.
What ages is the play space designed for?
Our play structure and activities are designed primarily for children under 7 years old, with a dedicated infant area for babies up to 18 months. We are working on building a maker's space for older children upstairs - we welcome suggestions from the community.
Do adults need socks?
Yes. Socks are required for everyone entering the play area, including adults. Socks are available for purchase if needed.
Do I need a waiver?
Yes. A signed waiver is required for each child before entering the play space. Once completed, the waiver is valid for one year. To help make check-in quick and easy, we recommend completing your waiver online before arriving.
Do I need to reserve open play?
At this time, open play is first-come, first-served during our operating hours. We suggest purchasing play passes and signing the waiver in advance.
Do you have food or drinks available?
You are welcome to bring a packed lunch or your own food to enjoy in the designated seating areas. We also offer a small selection of snacks and drinks available for purchase. Drinking water is available for bottle refills. To keep the play space clean and safe, food and drinks are not permitted inside the play areas.
Can I host a birthday party or event at Tiger Mama?
Yes! We offer several party packages that include private access to our party space and play area time for guests. You can learn more and submit a request here: tigermama518.com/reserve
What about parking?
We have a parking lot as well as additional parking on the sides of the building. See the parking map below for details. There is also street parking available near Tiger Mama as well as parking at Oakwood Community Center. We recommend allowing a few extra minutes to find parking, especially during busy times.
